Announcement: Technical Software Sales and Business Development

Position Title: Account Manager

Where: Portland, OR

Applied CAx is an award-winning technical software sales and engineering services company. We are looking for someone that can discover new opportunities while communicating our vision to a diverse and technical client base. We provide design/analysis/manufacturing software, training and consulting services that adds value to our clients’ business.

Position Description: The position requires building relationships and in-depth data management (salesforce) to stay on top of our clients’ needs and to discover where our software/services footprint can expand. The right candidate gets the importance of consistent engagement to ensure that the client understands how Applied CAx and Siemens PLM Software (NX CAD/CAM/CAE, Teamcenter, FEMAP, etc.) is the right fit for their engineering challenges. 

Finding new business is tough and we know it is a team effort. Toward this goal, our Digital Marketing Manager stands ready to tie in your database efforts with email blasts, newsletters and various targeted campaigns. When it comes time to meet with the clients, you’ll be backed up by engineers from our partner companies, Sherpa Design and Predictive Engineering. You will also have access to high-level sales and technical training from Siemens PLM Software to ensure your success. We expect to invest in your career and we want this job to be your fit for years if not decades.

  • How have you used databases to enhance client relationships?
  • How do you communicate professionally?
  • How would you prospect for clients and develop new business?
  • How would you handle the first introductory call to a new client?  An existing client?
  • Favorite method for closing a sale?
  • Show us that you are organized and have excellent communication skills.

Required Attributes: The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated with sales experience and willing to learn. You are comfortable selling or possess the traits of a successful salesperson. You understand that selling at the C-level is required for larger deals, and that although the prospects’ technical staff can open doors for you, they will rarely lead to closing a sale. You can manage databases efficiently while being our ace communicator. You are good at asking difficult questions and handling objections and understand that oftentimes a “no” just means you are closer to finding the right person that understands the value proposition and get you a “yes.” You enjoy a fast paced, challenging position with an inquisitive mind and a quest for knowledge.

Must Have:
Four-year degree
Sales experience
Proven ability to find new business
References that speak to your work ethic and professional work history

Compensation: Our compensation plan is based on a competitive salary with quarterly commissions based on hitting performance targets. We work as a team with long-term objectives to grow the business while ensuring that existing clients are engaged. As such, our business goals are simple: (i) be profitable, (ii) find new clients and (iii) maintain existing clients.
