Applied CAx is looking for an Application Engineer to support pre-sales and post-sales clients with NX CAM.  We are a Siemens Solutions Partner and pride ourselves on the technical talent on our bench.  Our client base is growing and we need to add an additional Application Engineer to our team.  In a nutshell, we are looking for a self-described CAD/CAM Manufacturing Geek (and if this is you, you will see this statement as a badge of honor).  They will be responsible for:

  • Providing first look product demonstrations of NX CAM and some portions of NX CAD to a wide variety of companies and industries.  Must be able to quickly understand how to machine a wide variety of parts to illustrate the benefits of NX CAM, sometimes on short notice
  • Assist in helping existing clients by fielding timely responses to technical support requests for NX CAM
  • Look to develop machining automation routines using the tools in NX such as Feature Based Machining and others
  • Provide support to our marketing team by way of creating videos, hosting online webinar sessions, and presenting in person to user group events and regional audiences
  • Coordinate with our sales team to support the process of closing new software sales

The ideal candidate will possess the following traits:

  • Experienced understanding of how precision machine shops operate and their business drivers
  • Able to communicate effectively and present technical topics clearly and effectively.  Via conference calls, online meetings, Powerpoint and live demonstration sessions
  • Strong 3D CAD skills: sketching, modelling, free-form surface manipulation, assembly modeling best practices
  • Experience with CAM software; NX CAM highly preferred
  • Experience with an associative/parametric CAM package desired but 3D CAD experience seen as higher importance due to the assembly and modeling environment of NX CAM
  • Interest in programming and naturally inquisitive to optimize processes in manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of Post-processors and different CNC machine controllers
  • Self-driven learner able to grasp complex computer/math/software concepts quickly
  • Experience with various programming languages for software automation
  • Some experience with computer networking and or advanced computer knowledge for software and computer configurations
  • Able to travel regionally from time to time to visit accounts, attend Siemens sponsored training sessions, and attend industry related events

Due to many of our clients working on U.S. Government regulated projects, this person must be able to comply with the Department of Homeland Securities definition of a US Person for ITAR requirements.
