FEMAP tutorials, videos, seminars, and resources

This technical seminar is intended for new engineers interested in modeling composites and experienced engineers who would like to get acquainted with the Femap interface. This seminar is intended to accompany a white paper and will provide you a starting background on composites.

The following topics are covered:

  • A little background on the mechanics of composites and how micromechanics can be leveraged to obtain composite material properties
  • 2D composite laminate modeling
    • Defining a material model, layup, property card and material angles
    • Symmetric vs. unymmetric laminate and why this is important
    • Results post processing
FULL OUTLINE:

This technical seminar will provide the background theory on normal modes (i.e., eigenvalue, natural frequency) analysis and then walk through the process for performing a vibration analysis from normal modes to modal frequency (sine sweep) to PSD to Direct Transient analysis.

As we know, covering this whole topic would take more than just an hour. We have some suggested readings and can point you toward additional resources for those that want more theory.

It has been a while since we have done our basic "Welcome to Femap" seminar and with the rollout of Femap v11.1.2 with NX Nastran v9.1, it was time. This seminar covers how we get the most from Femap in our modeling efforts. It covers the classics of working with Panes, Model Organization and Visualization, Setting Preferences for Ease-of-Use and Working with Toolbars. We also do some basic model building and demonstrate some of our favorite tips and tricks to make your analysis speed along.

This is an all-level technical seminar from which we hope new and advanced users will be able to take away something useful.
