Meet the team: Nick Westerfer, PLM System Engineer

Applied is pleased to introduce Nick Westerfer, a recent addition to our PLM Services Team. A PLM System Engineer, Nick has a background in Management and Information Systems, with over 11 years of experience with PLM.  His specialties include Teamcenter Administration, Upgrades, Implementations, and CAD Integrations.

Here are a few highlights of Nick’s experience and expertise:

Administration: Nick’s PLM administration skills encompass a broad range of activities, including configuring the system, managing user permissions and access, backups, updates, and customization to the data model and workflows, as well as system performance monitoring.

CAD Integrations: Nick has worked with a variety of different CAD platforms to integrate them into Teamcenter. His most recent experience is centered around NX integration with template and attribute mapping.

Training and Support: Nick has developed specific work instructions and video demos to support and enhance his customers’ PLM experience.

Implementations: Nick has worked directly with customers to gather requirements on various project types and see the implementation across the finish line.

Q. What do you do for Applied?

A. I am a PLM System Engineer on the Applied PLM Services Team.

Q. What are your areas of expertise?

A. I have 11 years of Teamcenter experience and focus both on Teamcenter administration and configuration.

Q. What inspired you to join the Applied team?

A. I was inspired to join the Applied team because the high level of expertise on the team made me excited to grow and challenge myself.

Q. What do you like most about what you do?

A. I love diving into the technical challenges of the job and working toward figuring out complex issues.

A. I graduated from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s in Management and Information Systems. I started my career working as a computer programmer, then entered the PLM arena in 2011.

Q. How did you get started in PLM? What excited you about it?

A. In a way, I got lucky and happened upon the field. I worked for a company that needed a PLM administrator and I was up for the challenge.

Q. Where are you located?

A. Huntington Beach, CA.

Q. Where would we find you when you’re not at work?

A. The gym or beach.

Q. What kinds of things do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

A. I love outdoor adventures with my family. I’ve been a runner all my life. I enjoy reading and writing.

  • I’ve written three books. One novel and two children’s books.
  • I helped start the Big Event at Bloomsburg University
  • I was class president in both high school and college.
