If you’ve considered moving to NX but have been daunted by your legacy CAD data, there are two methods that can help make the move: Content Migration Manager (CMM) and NX Migration (NXM). Both operate within a Teamcenter environment and offer the benefit of:
- Protecting your intellectual property
- Using your legacy CAD data
- Reducing your migration efforts and costs
Content Migration Manager
CMM supports migration from major systems including Catia v4, Catia v5, SolidWorks, ProEngineer/Creo, and NX I-deas. CMM also contains extensive reporting, validation, and options for configuring the results of your company’s migration to fit your exact needs. CMM supports the migration of part features or part boundary representations (B-Reps), assembly structure/constraints, and associative drawings.
Siemens can perform a sample migration with your data to demonstrate the CMM tool’s abilities. The first step is to choose a representative dataset that reflects the majority of your database. It should be an assembly containing about 25 or so parts and some associated drawings.

NX Migration
NX Migration (NXM) is similar to CMM and contains a subset of CMM’s capabilities. A few key differences:
- NXM does not migrate part features or provide support for Dispatcher Client
- NXM only supports data from CATIA V5 and SolidWorks
